Wordless Wednesday: He is Enough

This challenges me every time I watch it. I hope it challenges you too.

God is most glorified in you, when you are most satisfied in Him, in the midst of loss, not prosperity.

Are you satisfied in God no matter what the circumstances of your life? Is He enough for you?

A New Kind of Love

"The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer, my God, my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield, and the horn of salvation, my stronghold. I call upon the Lord, who is worthy to be praised, and I am saved from my enemies." Psalms 18:2-3

I am not really sure how my thoughts will come out today. Honestly, I'm not sure if I'll even be able to get my thoughts out. Over the years I've learned that people will always let you down, but the Lord will always prevail.

He will NEVER fail me.
He will NEVER forsake me.
He will NEVER do evil against me.

He will ALWAYS have my best interest at heart.
He will ALWAYS love me.
He will ALWAYS be there for me.

I'd say that I'm a person who has a select few friends that I keep close. I've found so many times that you can put effort into a friendship, but if effort isn't returned, then the "friendship" will stay the same. Nothing will change. With the Lord, you can put effort in and receive so much in return. So much love. So much growth. So much fulfillment. So much contentment. So much comfort. None of this is received from a half-hearted friendship.

As Christians, we are to love one another. Love as Christ loved us. Love without expectation. Love with a pure love. This is often so hard to put into practice because of the way society has become. It's hard to love someone who doesn't love in return. It's hard to vulnerably put forth love, for fear of being rejected. I'm challenging myself to love without expecting love in return, to love wholeheartedly and to love as Christ loves me. I challenge you to do the same.

Wordless Wednesday .. Well, almost wordless

I love that the Lord will never forsake us. He always has our best interest at heart. He will never fail us. He will never let us down. He will always love us. He will always be there for us. He is always for us, never against us. He is a true friend. This song touches my heart in so many ways. I hope it touches yours too.

You Did It Unto Me..

Oh the joys of my job. I could seriously write a book about all of the things these students do/say! Monday's are always the best..still recovering from the weekend of no work/sleeping in and re-adjusting to the 8-4 life. And juuust when you think the day is alllmoosstt over, that's when that "ONE" student shows up. Ya know .. the one that you know by name and cringe at the very thought of. That's bad to say I know, but if we're being honest, I think we all have that person in our life. Well today was my day for THAT person (we shall call them: boomer). I get the dreadful IM from the front desk, "You have a walk in who wants to know if you have 5 minutes to meet, it's BOOMER." The name hit me like a ton of bricks just got thrown onto my chest. First thought (if I'm being honest), "Uh.", second thought, "No way it will take JUST 5 minutes!", third thought, (deep breath) "Guess, I better get this over with..". My reply (with all of the excitement in the world..sarcasm of course) "You can send BOOMER back.."

Now in order to understand this, you have to understand Boomer. Boomer isn't just your average student. Boomer is of a special kind. The kind whose file is about three inches thick, the one that may need to take a personal hygiene class, that doesn't really grasp the concept of school and the responsibilities that come with it, the kind that you have to be blunt and honest with or you'll get walked all over!

Looong story short. Boomer's appointment did not take a mere five minutes as stated. Boomer wanted me to do every step of the process, when it is ultimately Boomer's responsibility (after all, it is your degree, right Boomer?). During the meeting, Boomer makes a phone call and very LOUDLY speaks on the phone while another advisor has a student. Boomer was just, well... Boomer.

This meeting is what made me want to pull my hair out today as frustration and irritation came over me. Then this came to mind: "And the King will answer them, Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me." (Matthew 25:40)

So now, as I am still working through Boomer's issue, I am trying to keep this in mind and remember that I am doing it to Him.
